Gus was known for being a “man of vision”. He helped transform the city of Rochester through ideas like introducing the skyway system.
Gus was a leading influence in the first renovation of the Historic Chateau Theatre, converting the iconic space into a Barnes & Noble bookstore.
Gus modernized the megacomplex scene by developing the first in Rochester. He relocated the Chateau Theater to Northeast Rochester.
Gus was monumental in spearheading the redevelopment of downtown Rochester in the 1980s, with the construction of the Galleria at Centerplace Mall.
Gus's passion for delivering great guest experiences, building strong partnerships, and treating his employees well, all aided in his success of developing over 50 properties.
Gus developed Radisson Plaza Hotel in 1989. 20 years later, Gus led his team through rebranding the Radisson into Doubletree by Hilton.
In 1999, Gus developed Hilton Garden Inn from the ground up. To replicate the success of DoubleTree, Gus continued to lead his team in providing outstanding customer service and exceptional product quality to visitors of Rochester.
2019 was the opening of one of Gus's final and most monumental projects, Hilton Rochester. The premier luxury 19-story building is a showcase of Gus's vision for the city of Rochester and his passion for serving the patients of Mayo Clinic.
